Several hiking trails begin near the Baths of Aphrodite,
which is a small grotto on the hillside where a natural spring feeds
a pool of water in which the Goddess is said to have frequently
bathed.
The trails will lead you out to Fontana Amorosa near the
point of the peninsula or to the top of Mouti tis Sotiras, the huge
mountain that overlooks Chryssochou Bay and the Akamas.
And of course there is Polis tis Chryssochou.
This little town is the site of the ancient cities of Arsinoe and
Marion. Although it has
changed much in recent years, it remains one of the most charming towns in
all of Cyprus.

If you’re a nature lover, you’ll enjoy this part of
Cyprus. On the western coast of the island you will find the Avgas Gorge and the turtle hatchery at Lara. There
are excellent beaches everywhere (and on some you will see turtle
nests identified by those who look after such matters).
A drive to Pomos will provide you with fantastic views of the
rugged coastline and eventually to Ayios Raphael church.
Throughout the region you will discover local ancient
handicrafts and practitioners of new-age arts, plus a variety of
good restaurants and tavernas.
